Fake vs Facts: How to Get to the Truth. With all the misinformation and fake news in our day-to-day lives, how can we sort out the truth? Join our panel discussion to find out. Dr. Craig Miller and Dr. Katrina Sinclair, history professors at Pennsylvania College of Technology, open with an historical perspective of fake news and explain why it is so prevalent today. Panel members share helpful tips on how to ascertain the truth. Learn where to find reliable information about political candidates from Susan Warner-Mills of the League of Women Voters of the Lewisburg Area. Then explore ways to evaluate websites with Lewisburg Area High School librarian Laurie Miller and discover the numerous free resources and help available at the library with Linda Homa, reference librarian for the Union County Library System. Candidates for the Lewisburg Area School Board will make up a second panel.

Pittsburgh, PA 2017 Shale & Public health Conference. The fifth annual Shale & Public Health Conference will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (registration/sign-in at 8:30)

The conference is presented by the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania and hosted by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health at the Pitt University Club.

Conference itself is free - $14 for buffet lunch

Among the featured speakers is: Dr. Walter Tsou MD MPH, past president of the American Public Health Association and former Health Commissioner of Philadelphia.

Civic Education- Hallmark of Democracy. Why Courts Matter Part IV of a 4-part Town Hall Series

This program will feature a presentation on our system of checks and balances among the three branches of government that explains the important role of the courts as well as an explanation of the workings of our local and state courts, how the federal courts work and the role of the Supreme Court of the United States in our court system. Panel: Hon. Louise Knight, Senior Judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas; Fred Martin, Esquire, former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania; Mary Beth Clark, Esq., Litigator and League of Women Voters of Lewisburg Area Board Member.
